A visit from two trusted caregivers: clear-minded, in good shape, and determined
Two close friends, who saw and cared for Trudy daily in the months before 6 July, visited her on 27 July. They found her clear-minded, in good physical condition, and with an unchanged wish: to go home.
This is a factual account of the visit that two close friends of Trudy paid to her on 27 July 2026 at the closed facility in Amsterdam. These are facts, not opinions. Readers can form their own judgement.
Both visitors have known Trudy for many years. They lived nearby and saw her almost daily in the months leading up to 6 July 2026; they belonged to her regular circle of informal caregivers, alongside the professional home care and her long-standing private help.
Their observations during the visit, as reported back to the family by both of them:
- They found Trudy alert and clear-minded. She knew where she was, followed the conversation with ease, and recognised her visitors immediately — as she has known them all these years.
- She appeared to be in good physical condition and struck both of them as considerably less downcast than described in earlier reports about the preceding weeks. The photo above, taken during the visit, shows as much.
- Her wish was unchanged and was once again expressed by her in clear terms: she wants to go home. According to both visitors, her resolve on this point was stronger than ever.
These observations are consistent with the signed statements previously collected from people in her immediate circle about her independent functioning up to 6 July 2026. Both visitors have indicated they are willing to put today’s observations in writing as well.
Meanwhile, in Trudy’s street and among her friends, concern about the length of her stay keeps growing — and so does the resolve. Her house stands ready and cared for: neighbours bring in the post, the plants are tended, everything awaits her return. The wish in her community is unanimous and grows stronger by the day: that she may return as soon as possible to the house where she lived independently for more than thirty years. On the remaining tracks, the family continues to work on the steps needed to make that happen.
Anyone who saw Trudy today — clear-minded, regaining strength, surrounded by people who know her through and through — saw someone who is ready to go home. The goal of Trudy’s family and community is unchanged: her return home. No names are mentioned in this account and no conclusions are drawn. This post will be updated as more becomes known.
